A History built on trust. Since our inception in 1989, we have become a reputable and leading wealth management specialist in Leicestershire. Our reputation has led us to now manage over £600 million in assets with a client base expanding some 26-Years.

Founding partners Chris Gladman and Bill Walker incorporated Greyfriars Asset Management LLP (GAM) in 1989. Chris and Bill left their positions as Consultants with a leading Financial Services Firm to set up an operation initially based out of Leicester City Centre, with services including DFM and Small Self Administered Schemes, as well as general financial advice, investment and protection. 26 years on and Greyfriars Asset Management LLP (GAM) is now a leading wealth management company in Leicester with over 50 employees.



Having maintained a steady 4-year growth, Greyfriars purchased an office in the Leicestershire village of Fleckney using Bill and Chris’s SIPPs to fund the acquisition. Shortly after this time, SIPPs were growing in popularity and were added to the Greyfriars portfolio. It was around this time that the Greyfriars DFM service was badged as Copia after the Roman Goddess of plenty.



With continued business growth, there was a need to move to larger office space once again, which led to the move to Greyfriars current offices in Fleckney. This was again purchased utilising the Partners’ SIPPs. With the expansion of the team and offices, an additional 4 portfolios were included within the Copia collection, presented a risk-balanced range of portfolios.



Greyfriars were approached by Best International in order to add a DFM and SSAS / SIPP Provider to their Group. The acquisition presented a mutually beneficial opportunity and a positive step for both Best International and Greyfriars, combining a range of expertise to provide an expansion of products and services to the complete client base.



With the development of a range of services, including Wealth Management, SIPP’s and SSAS’s, this led to significant growth and subsequently resulted in the development of the business. Greyfriars therefore opened a second office in Leicestershire (Meridian) as well as a London office as Greyfriars (GAM) continued to grow 3 primary divisions (DFM, SIPP/SSAS and Advice) to build on their success.



Greyfriars continued to develop throughout 2015, with the introduction of a Corporate Finance Division, supporting corporate clients’ growth opportunities. Furthermore, Greyfriars DFM service continued to expand its assets under management, along with the introduction of a NEW portfolio in the range, DFM Lite. DFM Lite is designed to mirror the exposure of the ‘Adventurous’, ‘Balanced’ and ‘Cautious’ Portfolios, but is populated with index tracking funds. DFM Lite therefore provides a more prosaic service, which is available at a lower charge.

As a Partner at Greyfriars Asset Management LLP, Chris is responsible for the DFM division, as well as the company’s communications and operations in order to drive growth and sustain key relationships. Chris is a highly experienced Director, having spent over 40-years in the Financial services arena, working with numerous leading companies including, Midland Bank (now HSBC) and Thomson McLintock (now KPMG).
